With a design picked straight out of the late seventies, the Nike Air Tailwind 79 Shoes have been updated with a suede trim around the toe cap, in legion green, which is continued up and around the eyestays and finishes around the heel. The colour has been matched in the leather swoosh on the side panels, layered over a pumice coloured, nylon panel that runs onto the toe vamp. The heel has also been finished with subtle Nike branding in red over a leather panel.
Initially designed as a runner's shoe, comfort is a priority and has been guaranteed through the use of the shoe’s signature Zoom Air unit in the sockliner for responsive cushioning in every step whether you’re on the track or in the city. Additionally a waffle pattern has been added to the black rubber outsole for durable traction with every step.
Released as a sample for the 1979 Honolulu Marathon, these shoes instantly created a legacy upon their release through the innovative use of Air Max technology which went on to spawn its own cultural history. Nike shaped their designs around the needs of the user, something which they still commit to over 50 years after their establishment.
